Dear Florentine Family,

Carmen Live Shows Converted to Digital Performance due to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The health, safety and security of our guests, cast, staff and our entire community has always been and will continue to be our highest priority. Therefore, our March performances of The Tragedy of Carmen at the Marcus Performing Arts Center (March 13, 15, 21, 22) are cancelled due to growing concern over the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We will be sending all Tragedy of Carmen ticket holders a digital performance, thanks to generous support from Studio Gear.

We will be assessing the risk on a weekly basis, and conferring with the Marcus Performing Arts Center and health authorities to determine the impact on future shows. Out of concern for you, we are following state health guidelines to the letter.

We have promised you a wonderful experience with this show, and despite the current exceptional challenges we are all facing, we are determined to give it to you. The show must go on. So we are bringing the show to you. All of the artists and musicians are working outside the normal parameters of professional contracts to make this possible. In unprecedented circumstances, we work together for unprecedented outcomes. We hope that this offering brings you the joy of opera, even if it’s not the way any of us prefers.

We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate this continually evolving situation together. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them. Thank you for your dedication to the arts and your continued support during these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Maggey Oplinger
